A mechanical threaded nut is the brass threaded insert. It means that without causing any harm, it is utilized to attach two objects securely. The ridges of a stripped threaded hole can also be repaired or restored with these inserts. It can now hold the fastener once again. Brass threaded inserts can be used with any material, however soft materials like wood or plastic are thought to benefit from them the most.

Brass threaded inserts provide exceptional quality and long-lasting performance because they are made of premium brass in accordance with BS EN 12164 CW 614N requirements.

The properties of brass threaded inserts are:

  • They are corrosion resistant
  • They have excellent maintainability
  • They have excellent electrical conductivity
  • They are cost-effective as compared to steel
  • Ideal for all assemblies made out of thermoplastics, composite materials, and thermoses.

Compared to steel, brass has a higher heat conductivity. As a result, inserts made of brass may be heat-installed more quickly than inserts made of steel.

Applications where brass inserts are more useful

When tying equipment to other things, it is very likely that soft materials like wood, plastic, plywood, clipboards, metal, etc., may crack. A bolt or screw cannot be inserted into them without breaking. Brass inserts work best in these circumstances. In the following circumstances, they are more suitable:

  • Applications where there is a presence of hot/cold water.
  • Since they provide excellent corrosion resistance, these inserts can be suitable in marine environments like salt water.
  • They are suitable for cryogenic applications, where the operating temperature is very low.
  • Brass inserts are capable of handling mild alkaline solutions as well as non-oxidizing acids. However, they cannot sustain strong alkaline or acidic solutions.
  • They show excellent corrosion resistance to petroleum-based materials.

Brass inlays have about the same strength and tensile strength as low-carbon steel. It is also compatible with surface finishes used in industrial plating, such as nickel. It is simple to recycle brass. It is therefore a GREEN substance.

They are employed in a variety of applications because of their excellent features.
